VRARA Asia Pacific Digital Heritage Community of Practice (VRARA APAC DH CoP) A global connected community of Virtual and Augmented Reality professionals - working in the intersection of GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives, museums) and other heritage (natural and cultural heritage) institutions to explore the role of VR and AR in the evolving digital space. As digital and virtual technologies expand, what is the role of place and object in the digital world? How do we preserve and share objects and ideas in the Virtual and Augmented Realities? How is value maintained or lost through digital scanning? How can heritage institutions reach beyond the boundary of their walls? Our goal is to establish a working Community of Practice to explore these questions and more.Role of VRARA APAC DH CoP:- To connect and create a community of those working in VR/AR and GLAM/heritage, globally;- To provide a platform for dialogue;- To open new opportunities to collaborate;- To develop shared expertise in the use of VR and AR for conveying artistic process, ideas and works;- Advise artists, designers, heritage interpreters, developers, GLAM/heritage institutions on appropriate, innovative and accessible VR/AR works;- Erode the reliance on physical spaces to display natural and cultural heritage including artworks and artifacts in order to increase accessibility and the rapid exchange of ideas.Public-facing organizations that are invited to be engaged and involved with the VRARA APAC DH CoP: - Public and Private Museums;- Public and Private Galleries;- Publicly accessible private collections;- Libraries;- Archives;- Heritage Centres;- Parks and Monument Sites;- ZOOs and Aquariums;- etc.For more info contact Co-Leaders:- Dr Kaja Antlej, Lecturer in Industrial Design, CADET Virtual Reality Lab Researcher – Museums and Heritage- Travis Rice, CCO, LENS Group
