vSpace is a 3D audio conferencing system. vSpace combines high-definition voice over IP technology with proprietary 3D audio processing to create an immersive conferencing experience. Users wear stereo headsets and connect to vSpace over the internet using a lightweight client. They then hear other participants localized around their head as in a face-to-face conversation. It sounds fantastic, and alleviates the pains of speaker confusion and rigid turn-taking that plague conventional monophonic conferencing systems. vSpace is significantly less fatiguing than existing systems because users do not have to strain to identify and understand other participants. The vSpace client runs on Windows and Mac OS. It features a graphical user interface that displays the names and locations of other participants along with dynamic speaking indicators, and allows the user to move participants in the virtual space. vSpace currently supports only headset devices, however speakerphone mode is in development.vSpace is fully compatible with standard telephones. Users may connect via telephone and enter a conference ID to connect to a vSpace conference. Telephone users hear a conventional conference without spatialization, while users connected via vSpace hear a high-definition spatial conference.
