The Hansberger family has been in the golf business for a very long time. Gary's father (Alan) along with his two brothers founded Sportsman's Golf (which eventually became RAM Golf Corp.) in a little garage on the west side of Chicago in 1947. Ram Golf Corp. made dramatic changes in the technological landscape for golf equipment. The company's innovative club designs and technological breakthroughs have won over 400 PGA and LPGA tour events worldwide as well as over 40 major golf tournaments (US Open, British Open, Masters and PGA). In 1975, the family sold RAM Golf Corp. to Colgate Palmolive. However, by 1980, Colgate Palmolive's hope of increasing business through sponsoring golf tournaments and products didn't work, so the family bought RAM Golf Corp. back. At the height of RAM Golf Corp.'s success, some of the best golfers in the world used their clubs. Professional tour players like Tom Watson put the company on the map, and the Hansberger family was right there through it all. The Hansberger family's contributions to the world of golf have landed them in the Golf Hall of Fame. By 1993, the original three founding brothers split the RAM Golf Corp. into ball and club divisions. As a result, in 1995, Gary Hansberger started VULCAN GOLF, LLC (the Company was named after the Roman god of fire and forging), and he continued to develop innovative golf equipment for golfers of all levels.
