Established in 1973, Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics - the flagship institution of Vidya Vikas Mandal - has emerged as one of the most prominent colleges in Goa, recognized both within and outside Goa as a centre of educational excellence. Right from its inception, the College has been the preferred destination of Goa's brightest and best students.Shree Damodar College is one of the most sought after colleges in Goa. Academic excellence is our topmost priority and we consciously strive towards ensuring that students reach their fullest potential in this area. All programmes and departments have highly qualified and dedicated faculty, many with a Ph.D. in their subject. The faculty members are a healthy mix of young teachers and older, more experienced hands, all committed to their profession and to the advancement of the students entrusted to their care.The College offers 4 undergraduate programmes - Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (B.Com(Hons)), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Services) – BBA (FS). At the Post graduate level, the College offers the M.Com programme. There are currently over 1200 students enrolled in these programmes. With three recognized research centres, the College also offers Ph.D. in Commerce, Management Studies and Economics. 15 research scholars are currently pursuing their PhD in these centres. All programmes are affiliated to Goa University.The College conducts a number of 30-hour add-on certificate courses such as Tally, Personal Financial Planning, Practical Banking, Digital Marketing, Animation and Architectural Design, Personality Development, Communication Skills, MS Excel, Internet of Things, etc. All Second Year and Final Year students of all programmes are expected to enroll for at least 1 certificate course during the year. For First Year freshers, we offer a choice of membership of a wide range of clubs, to help them develop interests and nurture talents outside of the classroom. Many First Year students benefit from Workshops in Theatre, Folk dance, Calligraphy, pot painting, etc. All First Year students also complete a 30-hour Certificate Course in Life Skills.Regular guest lectures, field trips and study tours give our young students exposure to the world of work. Students are voluntarily taking up internships during the summer vacations, thereby adding immensely to their knowledge and skills.Although academic excellence is our top priority, students are given ample opportunity to shine in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Our performance in sports is outstanding, with our young achievers regularly bringing home the University titles in several sports. In the year 2017-18 Shree Damodar College won the coveted award of Best Sports College. The College has the NCC(Army) and NCC(Navy) wings, with enrolment of both boys and girls. Our cadets have been participating in the prestigious Republic Day parade at New Delhi every year for the past 4 years. The NSS wing has an annual enrolment of 550 volunteers – one of the largest in the State – and the students engage in extension and outreach activities that benefit society and at the same time, help build their own personalities.Backed by a supportive and visionary management, the College is constantly on the lookout for new opportunities and challenges. Our growing alumni network has proved to be an invaluable resource in finding resource persons for guest lectures, workshops and certificate courses, identifying internship opportunities and finally in placement of students.
