WADE is a registered charity whose aim is to promote the welfare of the elderly in the Wokingham Borough area. The Charity was founded by the late Jean Davy, a former Mayor of Wokingham. The Day Centre opened in 1974. Our Registered Charity Number is 258311. WADE Day Centre is open to anyone over the age of sixty living in the Wokingham area. The Day Centre is open from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank and public holidays). Our Patron is The Lady Elizabeth Godsal. WADE is governed by a board of Trustees, led by our Chairman, Stuart Rowsell MBE.The Centre provides care, catering and driving staff, generally covered by the charity's funds. We only ask individual Members to pay a small annual membership fee (£15). We also provide additional services onsite including lunches, hairdressing, chiropody and return transport (please contact us for prices). However, the charity has to make continuous and vigorous efforts to raise funds and donations. We regularly hold fundraising events/activities. If you would like to get involved or donate a prize for one of our raffles, please get in touch. We are also grateful to anyone who would like to volunteer either in the Day Centre, or in our charity shop in Rose Street.
