The Walla Walla Sweets are a member of the West Coast League, the nation's preeminent summer collegiate wood-bat league. Founded in 2009, in four short seasons, the Sweets have established themselves as the premier franchise in the WCL, quickly becoming the league leader in attendance, ticket sales, sponsorship sales and merchandise sales. The Sweets have ranked in the top 25 in the nation in overall attendance (despite playing in one of the smallest markets in the country) the past four seasons, drawing over 50,000 fans in 2011. The team has one of the most iconic brands in all of sports, with Sweet Lou leading the way as the largest and coolest onion around. In addition to success in the business operations of the team, the Sweets have quickly become a force on the field. Typical expansion troubles hounded the Sweets in 2010, but the team rode a hot streak to earn the wild card and qualify for the playoffs in '11. Led by league MVP Alex Stanford, the Sweets knocked the two-time league champion Wenatchee Applesox out of the playoffs and clinched the East Division title. In 2013 the Sweets earned their second playoff appearance winning the East Division. The Sweets make an investment in baseball operations, with chief operating officer Zachary Fraser developing a network of talented scouts and coaches, reaching nation-wide to find the best talent available. Owned and operated by Pacific Baseball Ventures, LLC, the Sweets look to develop the best talent both on the field and off. The Sweets will continue to deliver the very best to fans, sponsors and investors.
