Wallingford Town Council is responsible for the town and it's many historical artefacts. The remains of a 954 year old castle which was destroyed by Cromwell after offering sanctuary ands succour to many Royals up to and including King Charles the 1st. Older still are the Saxon Burghs, still visible after 9 centuries. The river Thames that flows around our town is older still and you can still imagine the stories it has to tell as you stroll along the extensive banks. More recently why not visit our 600 year old Town Hall as it sits at the heart of a vibrant and bustling Town Centre with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars, not forgetting our unique Corn Exchange Theatre and Cinema. As a new resident you will enjoy a great sense of community supported by a wide range of clubs and attractions that cover sport at the Hithercroft Sports Trust, art, drama, music, crafts and continuing learning.
