Wanderers offers week-long overnight camps, day camps, and backpacking adventures, for kids, ages 6-14. While kids at other SF Bay area camps are stuck in one place, we spend our days touching tide pool starfish, finding huckleberries, spotting tule elk, playing among the redwoods, and camping and backpacking in remote wilderness areas throughout Northern California. Team-building games, experiential learning, leadership exercises and an end-of-the-week challenge are all part of the fun! We are San Francisco-based and provide all transportation for our camps. Our summer pick-up and drop-off locations are Julius Kahn playground in the Presidio Park and Piper Park in Larkspur, CA. We hire some of the best summer camp staff around. All of our camp staff are 21 years of age or older, CPR and Wilderness First Aid certifications, clean driving and backgrounds, and 2+ years leading groups of children in the outdoors. In addition, our staff to camper ratio is very small, typically around 1 staff to 4 campers. Kurt, the director, is one of the lead instructors himself. He has over 20 years of experience guiding and organizing outdoor programs. He is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School and has a Wilderness First Responder certification (80 hour wilderness medicine certification).
