Wantok Health Foundation (registration No.6-205938) is a Not-for-Profit, Non-Government organisation that was locally founded in Papua New Guinea in 2016 by Dr Annette Ketalu and Dr Hilda Hadashar Audubo. Their aim is to support and educate men, women and children to own their own health. These women are passionate about a healthy PNG and their mission is to "Promote health and well-being for every individual and community through knowledge based health advocacy, health equality and partnership"They align their working objectives with the key development areas as outlined in the GoPNG vital policy documents and the PNG National Health Plan 2010-2020 which aims to "Achieve a Healthy and Prosperous Nation for All, both Now and for Future Generations' by making ‘health everybody's business'. OBJECTIVES:1. Empower individuals through health education to take ownership of their own health.2. Promote healthy habits and lifestyle among communities through training and building health ambassadors who can play leadership roles within their communities. 3. Reduce health inequality among communities by minimising health information bias and addressing the air of social and cultural discriminations. 4. Reduce health ignorance in the communities through effective advocacy.5. Create partnerships among local and international stakeholders (NGOs, Government Departments, Business Houses, Donor Agencies, Media, Local communities and Individuals) to reach the target populations. 6. Facilitate vital and sustainable health screening programs.7. Conduct community needs assessment surveys and compile reports for effective health program planning and monitoring. 8. Advise local community leaders on important health findings, risks and program outcomes. 9. Initiate community based public health projects such as WASH and Family Planning programs. 10. Connect on a cultural level with respective local populations and enable them to achieve the highest possible health outcomes.
