We are a non-profit organisation, currently with 130 members and an annual revenue of £3,000.Warwick are the current titleholders of the British Universities Team Championships 2018 (in addition to 2017 and 2002). In 2017 and 2018, Warwick fielded the most teams out of the competing Universities. Additionally, Warwick participates in the national rapidplay 2020 Chess Tournament, fielding 3 teams; the Society won the Birmingham Qualifier over the last two years - winning the Grand Final in June 2017.Warwick fields 5 Teams in the local Coventry and District Chess League (CDCL) weekly, catering from beginners to Masters - a total of 80 Fixtures (320 Games) are played each year. We are the incumbant CDCL Champions 2018. Competitive chess aside, the Society runs Clubnights every Thursday 7.30-10pm in the Oculus Building (OC0.04) af the University, where members play casual chess, and we run training sessions and our ChessTalks, speaker series. Our members also teach chess in the local area (on Fridays and Saturdays) at the Coventry Chess Academy and Grange Farm Primary School - recognising the link between playing chess at a young age with academic achievement and social mobility. For any enquiries, feel free to get in contact with our Presidents, Ben Lee and Taran Jina.
