International Affairs - Coventry, England, United Kingdom
WIRS is a growing society for students who are interested in all things related to international relations and foreign affairs. We aim to provide a space for students who are curious about international relations to learn, have fun and gain new perspectives. Everyone is welcome, no matter their knowledge of international relations, degree, or year of study.Engagement:IRSoc organises weekly meetings open to all students, where pressing issues of international relevance are discussed in a creative and friendly way. It is a bottom-up society, where the ideas of members are considered and, if feasible, put into practice. IRSoc is also the only politics-related society that holds revision sessions at the end of the year with seminar tutors, as well as numerous socials with other societies, quiz-drinking games and yearly trips abroad.Quality:The society holds top-quality weekly speaker events, ranging from a wide variety of backgrounds and aimed at informing members and raising awareness about global issues. IRSoc also functions as a platform for cooperative dialogue and civil discussion, with the Israel-Palestine Forum being the largest non-partisan UK university event on the most perpetual crisis in security studies.Opportunity:This society acts as a launching pad, a platform that gives students the tools, connections, and contacts they'll need to shape their future. With this aim, IRSoc holds one-day long events each year where firms are invited to present internships, job experiences and volunteering to facilitate the involvement of members in the IR/Politics stage. IRSoc also works with magazines of international relevance, the final aim being the creation of a contacts database to which all members can have access to, even after their university years.Join our society here: https://www.warwicksu.com/societies/InternationalRelatio/Feel free to email us at warwickir@outlook.com with any comments or queries.
