Habitat for Humanity Washington County, VA (WCHFH) is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that builds simple, decent, affordable homes in Washington County, VA for those in need. Washington County, Virginia Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1998. Habitat continued the work of passionate volunteers who were already doing some repair and home construction in the area. Since then Habitat has built about one house per year for new homeowners. Working within a rural county makes it challenging to organize outreach and find resources, but we have responded to these challenges by working with other organizations, like People, Inc., the USDA, and the Virginia Housing Development Authority. In the last two years, we have completed 20 projects in our Critical Home Repair program and we are on track to do 20 more this year.
