Established in 1976, the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation is a tax exempt 501(c)3 non profit, and Washington's only statewide historic preservation organization. OUR MISSION:The Washington Trust helps make local preservation work. We build an ethic that preserves Washington's historic places through advocacy, education, collaboration, and stewardship. OUR PROGRAMS & SERVICES:We fulfill our mission through a range of programs reaching communities in every part of our state. Advocacy: The Washington Trust has a long track record of successfully advocating for strong public policies and financial incentives to support preservation on a local, state, and national level.Education: We host conferences and special topic workshops, provide resources and public information on preservation issues and opportunities, as well as a distribute a quarterly newsletter for Washington Trust members. Our Most Endangered Historic Properties List annually highlights threats to some of our state's most significant resources and initiates technical assistance to actively work with local individuals and organizations to save these threatened sites.Collaboration: We provide advice and support to local preservation efforts and build the capacity of grassroots preservation efforts by providing direct technical and financial assistance statewide.Stewardship: The Washington Trust takes pride in being owner and steward of one of Seattle's premier historic residential landmarks, the Stimson-Green Mansion. The mansion serves as a meeting and event center, educational venue, and offices for the Washington Trust.Whether you're an individual renovating an historic home, a citizen concerned about an endangered building in your community, or a member of a nonprofit group working to save a local landmark, we can help.
