WatchFrog is a new and exciting early-stage company that is revolutionizing the way people protect their largest investment: their home. WatchFrog has created a water leak detection system tied to a web-based alerting service for homeowners using wireless sensors that last for 10+ years and are easily placed in critical areas. The systems are shipped directly to homeowners and setup is easy and inexpensive. WatchFrog is co-founded by technology industry veteran Jeremy Jaech, who was co-founder of Aldus (makers of PageMaker Desktop publishing software) and Visio (makers of business diagramming software) where he served as CEO from inception through the company's IPO and eventual sale to Microsoft. WatchFrog's co-founders include Shwetak Patel, an Assistant Professor in the departments of Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington and Matt Reynolds, an Assistant Professor in the Electrical + Computer Engineering department at Duke University. Shwetak was also a founder of Zensi, Inc., a demand side energy monitoring solutions provider, which was acquired by Belkin, Inc in 2010. Matt co-founded the RFID systems firm ThingMagic Inc. in 2000 and served as Chief Technology Officer from 2002-2007.
