As per Bloomberg:1. Only 23.7 percent of eligible Indian women are part of the workforce. Compare that to 75 percent of men.2. In urban areas, this number drops further to only 16 percent. For men, the comparable number is 69 percent.3. Even for those women who are part of the workforce, the unemployment rate is high. 8.7 percent compared to 4 percent for men.Other stats state that:1. India ranks 20th from the bottom in terms of representation of women in Parliament.2. India ranked third lowest in having women in leadership roles for the third consecutive year, while Russia topped the list where they account for 47 per cent of senior management team, says a survey.3. The reduction in sex ratio of youth is found to be much more than that of the overall population. It has come down to 939 in 2011 as compared to 961 in 1971 and is projected to decline further to 904 in 2021 and 898 in 2031.4. Crime rate against women rose from 41.7 to 53.9% between 2011 and 2015.5.
