We Love Clean Rivers, Inc. is a 501©3 non-profit organization bringing a recreation-based approach to cleaning refuse-littered rivers.WLCR is dedicated to cleaning high use-rivers by mobilizing the river recreation community and partnering with local watershed organizations. By utilizing kayakers, rafters, anglers, scuba divers and tubers to clean up waterways, We Love Clean Rivers aims to broaden engagement with river restoration activities, increase the recreation community's understanding of threats to watershed health, and provide unique and fun opportunities to give back to the public lands and public waterways used for recreation.After honing the Down the River Clean Up model on the Clackamas River in Oregon for seven years, We Love Clean Rivers now works in partnership with any watershed organization interested in developing a recreation-based clean up approach for other rivers in need. Through community education and year-round support for local policy changes directed at waste reduction and waste management along recreation corridors, WLCR seeks to eliminate the need for annual clean up events altogether.
