We believe that anybody can learn to code starting at a young age and that computer science should be a fundamental part of every student's education. Learning to code is so useful in our modern age for many reasons including that it helps gain a better understanding of math and in 2020 there will be 1 million unfilled coding positions meaning plenty of jobs for coders. A big problem in the American education system is the lack of coding in high schools and the failure to start teaching students at young ages. To add to this problem, students of different socioeconomic backgrounds are not offered equal opportunities to learn to code and the field is dominated by certain groups of people. The mission of our program is to teach coding to as many 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders as possible. Through partnerships with different organizations, we provide coding courses taught by qualified high school students to help solve the problem of the unequal distribution of coding education and to hopefully inspire great kids to become engineers and coders in their future.
