WeLink is a wireless internet hotspot access startup based out of Manila, Philippines founded by Diego Manalastas and Julian Patdu. The WeLink NetLink access point provides internet access to consumers in open public spaces and to communities as an access point of free internet access that promotes our advocacy of access to information supported by the captive portal ad system. What separates WeLink from other wifi access providers is that the captive portal on WeLink NetLinks are designed as an interactive content space with, engaging content such as HTML5 games, powered product suggestions from content creators, and engaging non-intrusive targeted advertisements.The company was founded by Diego Manalastas, and Julian Patdu, two college sophomores from the University of the Philippines Diliman, and the Ateneo De Manila University, respectively. They started the venture after experiencing first hand, the lack of wireless internet access in the Philippines in some markets that even telcos cannot effectively address. Even today in 2017, 60% of the world's population are still without any means of internet access.We hope to step in and fill the void. Providing unlimited free tier, and accelerated wireless internet access over Wi-Fi hoping to also service communities via Fiber-over-Air Technology and community level small-cell 802.11ac standards. For the commercial public deployments of WeLink NetLinks; it has been found that in malls and the link are a big boon to business, as research has shown that having wireless access boosts foot traffic by 60%, and increases consumer retention on site by over 50% (Campbell 2013). WeLink NetLinks are also a powerful tool in data mining and consumer analytics.We are a small and young startup with big dreams to fix the 'last mile' problem of internet connectivity, and access to information.Let's Shift The Paradigm Together.
