Civic & Social Organization - Owensboro, Kentucky, United States
The Wendell H. Ford Government Education Center is a non-partisan, non-profit, civic education organization working to help students in the Greater Owensboro, Kentucky area to gain an objective understanding of the issues that face their community, state, and nation, while simultaneously recognizing the vital role government plays in our society in the spirit of civility, cooperation, and compromise, also known as the three "C's" that the center acknowledges as widely lacking in modern political discourse. With this mission in mind, the Government Education Center serves high schoolers in the Owensboro area: freshmen students in the EmergeNext Program and sophomores, juniors and seniors in the Wendell H. Ford Statesmanship Academy. In May of 2020, the Wendell H. Ford Statesmanship Academy graduated its largest class in the organization's history and finished the 2019/2020 school year with nearly 200 students enrolled in its programming from the Greater Owensboro area in which it was the organization's aim to mold passionate citizens with an emphasis on facts and why compromise is important for societal progress.Civic education is at the heart of the mission of the Ford Center, to train and raise students that treasure the mentality of lifelong learning, leadership, and civic participation as the values of civility, cooperation, and compromise transcend education, industry and every stage of life.
