The West Indies Sugar & Trading Company (Wistco) is the largest speciality sugar company in the Caribbean, formed in 2007 as a joint venture between the Barbados Agricultural Management Company Ltd (BAMC) and the private sector. The BAMC is the sole sugar producer on the island. It operates the Port Vale sugar factory and has extensive technical expertise and facilities through its Sugar Technical Research Centre.Wistco pays more than three times the world price for its sugar, allowing the industry to make a reasonable margin and providing funds for ongoing development programmes. We sell ourPlantation Reserve sugar brand in Barbados, across the English speaking Caribbean and in the UK retail, manufacturing and food service sectors. The company manages packaging and processing facilities in Barbados and has offices in both Barbados and the UK.
