The West Meets East Foundation advocates on behalf of the international student community to increase collaboration between educators, governments and employers and to develop actionable solutions that narrow the education to employment gap. The lack of practical training and skill building opportunities have hindered students' abilities to transition knowledge from the classroom into effectiveness in the workplace. Developing a practical skill set can position talented young professionals to become "game changers" in their respective developing countries. The West Meets East ("WME") Foundation (www.WME-foundation.org) programs provide advocacy and stewardship on behalf of international students. Graduates of the WmE program would leave the US with a strong combination of practical business skills along with their western university education credentials. One important way WME accomplishes this is through post-graduate hands-on training programs (called Apprenticeship Programs) that allow selected internaionl graduates while still in the US; to obtain up to 12 months of practical training and experience within their field of study. WME will recruit and work closely with the right partners both here and abroad to listen, develop and monitor practical training appresnticeship programs with a curriculum best suited to the student graduates and least disruptive to each respective organization.
