The West Michigan Islamic Center, Founded in 2010, is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. Founded by community donations, the Center is made up of over 100 families with diverse ethnicities. The WMIC is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization with tax exemption status. The Center promotes the teachings of Islam following the traditions of the Ahlulbayt. The leadership is made up of individuals with various professional, personal, business, and educational backgrounds including businessmen, educators, and parents. The WMIC also has an active interfaith office that works within the local a community as it represents Islam in churches, synagogues, mosques, colleges, and other faith organizations.Events catering to both English-speaking and Arabic-speaking audiences include Friday prayer, Youth programs, Quranic Tafsir classes, Ramadan programs, Ashura programs, and Islamic retreats, among many more. Over the years, the WMIC has empowered leaders dedicated to servitude and community engagement to provide these programs to audiences of all ages.
