International Trade & Development - Springwood, Queensland, Australia
West Papuan Development Company is an Australian based charity that collaborates with West Papuan organisations to empower West Papuans to develop their water sanitation infrastructure. Our key initiative is the Clean Water Program, which aims to improve water access for indigenous Papuans with its dual focus of constructing wells and upgrading toilets. We are a registered Australian charity supported entirely by volunteers. We administer and run our programs according to Australian charity standards alongside our local partner LEMAK (Water for Life Organisation). WPDC works only with local West Papuan teams, and prioritises the empowerment of local indigenous people in all its projects. LEMAK is a Papuan grassroots organisation with trained administrative and on the ground staff. All LEMAK staff have been trained to certificate standard in Papua New Guinea in engineering and well construction.
