The federal state unitary enterprise "West-Siberian Research Institute of Geology and Geophysics" was founded in 1999 on the basis of the West-Siberian Research Institute of Geophysical Exploration Methods which, in the course of the twenty five years of its activities, has built vast scientific and practical capabilities and developed a highly professional work collective.The Institute's principal fields of work and scientific inquiry include:— formulation of the regional policy for development of the mineral and raw-materials base of Western Siberia and its implementation;— the study of the region's geological structure, the processing and interpretation of the data furnished by regional seismic exploration, geophysical studies of boreholes and wells, and the use of other geophysical methods;— research-and-methodological support and conduct of geological-geophysical investigations and prospecting work connected with a comprehensive exploration of inside-earth resources, development and improvement of the methods, techniques and technologies for forecasting of and the search for, and evaluation, of reserves of mineral resources' fields and deposits;— development of ecologically clean technologies for geophysical work.
