WCU EMS provides BLS level care and transport to the students, faculty, staff, and visitors of Western Carolina University, 24 hours a day through the fall and spring semesters when the University is in session. The primary response area is the WCU Cullowhee campus. WCU EMS transports patients to University Health Services, located at the Bird Building, as well as to Harris Regional Hospital, located in nearby Sylva, N.C.Our service operates one ambulance and one QRV staffed with a shift supervisor. Our schedule is currently comprised of 12 hour shifts. Our service also staffs standby events such as football games and other sporting events, Mountain Heritage Day, marathons, concerts and commencement.
