Environmental Services - Los Angeles, California, United States
WeTap was founded in 2008 by Evelyn Wendel to improve appreciation, access, and use of public drinking fountains as a means to reduce dependence on single-use plastic water bottles and improve public health. To achieve this the organization developed the WeTap App, available on IOS and very soon on the web browser, to map and access drinking fountains and filling stations. In 2015, to further WeTap's advocacy for greater public awareness on tap water, Tap Water Day was launched with the CA State Resource Control Board, AWWA, LADWP, and Mayor Eric Garcetti. WeTap also created the Tap Water Talks Series to further public conversation on clean drinking water, especially in Los Angeles.WeTap is a recognized partner in Mayor Eric Garcetti's Green New Deal pLAn and enjoys close ties and collaborations with other Californian state agencies.
