Wexford County Childcare Committee (WxCCC) was one of 33 City and County Childcare Committees set up in 2001, as part of National Childcare Policy to co-ordinate the development of childcare locally. WxCCC has a board of management consisting of fifteen voluntary members and the extent of local partnership involved in WxCCC's work is clearly evidenced by the wide-ranging membership profile of the committee. WxCCC employees a staff team of six people which include a Chief Executive Officer, Childcare coordinator, two Development Officers, Financial Administrator and an Administrator. The role of WxCCC is to advise and provide assistance to existing and potential Childcare providers, to Childminders and those thinking of Childminding, and to parents, on all childcare issues for children between the ages of 0 and 14. WxCCC are also tasked with improving standards and raising awareness of best practice in the Early Years Sector in County Wexford as well as overseeing, monitoring and supporting a number of grant funding initiatives on behalf of the government.
