The hydrogen world is coming to Rio!The 22nd edition of the WORLD HYDROGEN ENERGY CONFERENCE (WHEC) will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from June 17 to 22, 2018, in the Windsor Convention & Expo Center at Barra da Tijuca.In 1992 world leaders met in Rio de Janeiro for the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development to create the vision of sustainable development as guideline for the 21st century.Why Brazil?Brazil is one of the leading countries worldwide in the use of regenerative energy in large scale. In 2016, 82.8 % of electricity was produced from renewable sources, offering a wide range of sources for a clean and sustainable hydrogen production.Why WHEC?The WORLD HYDROGEN ENERGY CONFERENCE is the opportunity for international and Brazilian communities to strengthen their global efforts on the path to sustainability. The dissemination of knowledge on hydrogen energy will foster the interest for the new scientific and technological activities.The size and characteristics of the Brazilian industry and its big markets offer excellent opportunities for global partnerships that can support the introduction of new technologies in commercial scale.Call for abstractsThe WHEC2018 Organizing Committee has been consistently approached in the last weeks by a great number of potential contributors interested to actively take part of the event. We believe that this is a consequence of intense actions being developed in specific countries, regions and organizations. In order to positively acknowledge this new demand, the deadline for abstracts submission has been shifted to December 11th, 2017.
