Richard was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. His Mother is of Finnish descent and his Father is Cree. He draws from his Finnish and Native biological roots when it comes to defining his artistic style. Richard's first love has always been architecture. He is acutely aware of the spaces and environment that surrounds him. "It is the stark simple lines and gentle ergonomic curves that bring me the greatest sense of tranquility", he comments, "When it comes to colour it has to be vibrant. Vibrant colour against a stark monochromatic background excites me the most." Richard, for the most part, is self-taught. He graduated from Applied Multimedia in 1998, which gave him a good technical base to work from. He was hired immediately out of school and has been working as a graphic designer/web developer/artist ever since—continually taking courses at schools such as SAIT. It is the artistic aspect that he enjoys the most. "I was born to design and to create," he says with delight. Richard currently lives in Vancouver. He is a full-time student enrolled in a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
