Founded in 1887 in London by John Gibbons, trade mark agent, our practice was merged with that of Benjamin Wildbore in 1892. One of Wildbore & Gibbons' clients, John Begg Limited, a whisky distillery, was among the first companies to register a trade mark under the UK Trade Mark Registration Act of 1875.In the 1940s we pioneered trade mark monitoring by establishing the Trade Marks Directory Service (usually called TMDS).
