THE STORYWilliam l. 1985 is a new French watch brand created by a young enthusiast, Guillaume Laidet, who has worked in some of the finest Swiss watchmakers. His project was born thanks to the fortuitous legacy of an old chronograph from the 50s.Guillaume restored it and then started to wear it everyday. This old watch has immediately aroused the interest of his friends but the price of this little gem was a real brake on any purchase will. This is how the idea came! Develop and produce a vintage style clock but with current quality standards for an unbeatable price. For nearly a year and thanks to his contacts in the watch industry Guillaume developed this modern and accessible version. No bullshits, watches are manufactured in Shenzhen, China, like most of the world production, but this is clearly assumed. Immediately the idea of not going through the banks but by a crowdfunding project was needed as evidence. The Kickstarter project has attracted the interest of watch blogs such as Hodinkee and LesRhabilleurs, but also of GQ or BFM TV, the month-long campaign has raised € 192K preorders. Thanks to this international campaign watches were sold in the US, in France, in Australia in Korea… A worldwide success. The guess of Guillaume has been more than confirmed and the success continues on the e-commerce website of the brand. Many retailers and jewelers are scrambling for the brand in their stores. THE UNIVERSE To create the collection Guillaume drew inspirations of Swiss watches from the 50s to 70s. The idea is to develop vintage products with "good taste", qualitatives with iconic and timeless designs. The glasses are double domed, the cases are made of 316L stainless steel brushed and polished and prices are affordable. The product is therefore addressed both to watches aficionados who will recognize and appreciate the watchmaking codes but also to those who love beautiful objects.
