Writing & Editing - Los Angeles, California, United States
I began painting on clothes in November of 2017 in the living room of a 1 bedroom apartment on South Mariposa Ave in K'town. It soon grew to become the foundation of not only my personal style, but the foundation for my creative ambition in the fashion industry. As a professional photographer and long-time purveyor of the fashion scene - both outside and within LA - I saw the opportunity in upcycled clothing as a way to breathe a deeper-than-surface-level persona into the mundane and "of the moment" world of mass-produced fashion. There is little deviation from the course by mainstream fashion labels, whether designer or fast-fashion brands, which leads to the over-saturation of styles and aesthetics (take Luxury Streetwear, for example). I believe in the subversive & chaotic nature of a timeless persona, infused with 1 of 1 pieces. Impervious to the fickle world of trends and knock-off replication, irrevocably stylish, and 100% unique. I create art, not products - therefore I am a Fashion Artist, not a Fashion Designer. I wear that title as I wear my clothing: Proudly. On top of that. . . well, just keep reading. Fast-fashion is the #2 global consumer of water.85% of all textiles go to the dump each yearPeople bought 60% more garments in 2014 than in 2000, but kept the clothes for half as longWashing clothing releases 500,000 tons of microfibers into the ocean each year For every item of clothing upcycled, we waste less.
