In 1838 William Watson built a hotel. He called it "Mansion House". He ran the hotel for 14 years with his wife Diadema. In 2006 another couple became the owners of the hotel. Jonas and Jane Ann Petty renovated the building for two years and reopened in December of 2008 as "William Watson Hotel". The hotel now boasts 14 rooms including 6 suites with views of the Pike County Courthouse. The comfortable lobby was frequented by Abraham Lincoln when he was practicing law in the old Pike County Courthouse.
