Jim did not have the money to repair his 67 GTO – so he learned to work on it. He worked in several gas stations, Foster Chevrolet, Bill Beatty Chevrolet & Dorr Chevrolet before opening our business. Williams Auto Repair & Classic Restoration started in our home garage in May, 1988. Jim enjoyed when the door between the garage & house would open with a quick "hi daddy"! When we outgrew our home garage, we put up a building East of Norwalk on Route 20. Vicki continued to work at GTE while helping behind the scenes. In 1994, we moved to our present location at Cleveland Rd in Norwalk. Vicki was laid off from GTE. Our son Keifer joined the team in 2007. Yes – we are family owned AND operated. Our present location is a vintage white building trimmed in red with a large yellow sign in front with Williams through it! When you enter the lobby, you feel like you stepped back in time. You will see a toy garage from the 50's, vintage oil cans & supplies. We sell candy bars from an antique candy machine. There is an old tire on display. An old Norwalk Trucker Cheerleader Letterman's Jacket, vintage gas station shirts & jackets. Our photos include our 66 GTO & 69 GTO. The 66 was in the Shawshank Redemption Movie – in the UNCUT version. The 69 was brought home in pieces. Check out the display case – Take a walk through local history - names that have not been mentioned in years! Ashtrays, pens, pencils, calendars, seat cushions, cups, matchbooks, can openers, rulers. Names like PDI, Action Auto Supply, Moyer's Excavating (my dad), Norwalk Parts Company, Downtown Dodge Inc, Norwalk Hitching Post, Scott Ford Day items, & more. A few nice gifts from EHOVE for mentoring students.We run our shop with honor and integrity. Our current team works well together. Each employee has a minimum of 15 years of automotive experience.
