We work to empower women in developing nations to socioeconomic independence through entrepreneurship and to provide underserved women in these nations with income-generating and business development skills with a goal toward improving the community as a whole. We exist to empower women in developing nations because we know that it can have a direct impact on a country's prosperity and peace. Our approach is to guide women in discovering their self-worth, spark their passions, then give them the tools they need to succeed as business and community leaders. At Willow Tree Roots we believe that empowering women in developing nations can lead to an empowered, sustainable and peaceful community. KENYA: Willow Tree Roots' "Roots of Prosperity" project seeks to provide HIV positive teenage mothers, particularly those in Kisumu, Kenya where the HIV rates are high, with income-generating skills. These skills will include artisan training in a craft of their choosing and education in business and financial development so that they can run businesses of their own. With these skills, these remarkable mothers can increase their socioeconomic status and become empowered business women.PERU: Our "Canopy of Hope" project in Pachacutec, Peru provides women from one of the most impoverished areas of Peru with artisan technical skills and guides them through the business development process so that they can work together as a strong unit of empowerment to become entrepreneurs and business leaders in their communities and country.CAMBODIA:Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world. Women are generally the most disadvantaged and young girls are at a particular risk of exploitation when families run into economic hardship. We are currently working in Cambodia to build projects that will help these amazing group of women achieve independence. Willow Tree Roots is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity organization.
