Legal/Attorney - Swindon, ENG, UK
The Wiltshire Law Centre opened in 1981 and was the first to practice in a non-inner-City area. The rapid growth of the town and a large rise in unemployment in the early 1980's are among the factors which made the case for a Law Centre here. Our main catchment area is the Borough of Swindon, which is the town of Swindon and several outlying villages. It houses half of the County's population and covers about one fifth of the County's land area. Though 95% of our enquiries come from people living or working in Swindon, we also cover the rest of Wiltshire to a limited extent. Wiltshire Law Centre is a registered Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee, run by a Board of Trustees who act in a voluntary capacity. There are currently five paid staff who are organised as a non-hierarchical collective. A small team of volunteers assists with reception and other duties.
