Wind Support NYC promotes and supports projects utilizing sail and wind propulsion to reduce fuel consumption for a greener commercial shipping and maritime public transportation. The growing number of wind propulsion projects launched in Europe and Latin America motivated the creation of Wind Support NYC, member of the International Wind Ship Association.Wind Support NYC is headquartered in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, center of urban manufacturing and innovation that spans 300 acres, housing 500+ businesses, and employing 11,000+ people. While sail transport and wind propulsion will not compete with the modern, full-scale port operations in New York Harbor, we are convinced a fleet of domestic and cross border cargo sailboats transporting organic, fair traded and high value goods on a smaller scale, will emerge in the next decade.
