Individual & Family Services - Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
We are dedicated, because military families are just one email away from POSTING, moving across the country, or around the world; RISK, a family member facing danger in training, or operations; OPERATIONAL SEPARATION, finding themselves apart for a day, a year, or more. The mission of the Winnipeg Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is to enrich the quality of life of those who share in the unique military lifestyle by providing specialized programs and services to promote health, education and social well-being. The MFRC is a not-for-profit organization, managed by a volunteer board of directors, represented by a majority of military family members. Board members are elected by the community. Board and staff assess local needs, in order to avoid duplication of community services and resources, while determining priorities, providing leadership and the delivery of the national Military Family Services Program (MFSP) and the Veteran Family Program (VFP).A military family is understood to be:• All Canadian Armed Forces' personnel, Regular and Reserve Force, and their spouses, children, parents, relatives of significance or people who self-identify as the family of a military member.• Non-Public Fund and Department of National Defence civilian employees during a deployment with the Canadian Armed Forces to a mission area outside of Canada, their spouses, parents, children and dependent relatives.• Family members and persons of significance to Canadian Armed Forces personnel who die while serving remain part of the military family community in perpetuity.Support to military families focuses most intently on those in the military family community who are most vulnerable and adversely impacted by the conditions of military life. It's, for this reason the bulk of services focus on spouses, children, and parents.
