Winter Carnival for Cancer Research is the largest undergraduate philanthropic event at McGill University, designed to increase school spirit and encourage faculty involvement. Each year, over 1000 intra-faculty students participate in two week-long social and philanthropic events across the venues of Montreal. This event is underlined by its major charitable initiative, the Cancer Auction, encouraging donations from several reputable organizations. The blend of faculty spirit and a philanthropic edge makes Winter Carnival the most popular faculty event, and therefore the event with the largest reach. In 2016, Winter Carnival raised $52,000 for cancer research.
