Basketball is a community sport where kids learn to work together on a team and gain leadership skills while helping promote self esteem. Kids and teens need a chance to play basketball and too often budget cuts leave these courts broken and unusable. Wish Together Swish Together will collect supplies and raise money to rebuild these courts and give kids a chance to play ball with their friends and connect with their community. Our goal is to provide communities with basketball courts that they are proud of and where the community can come together to play, laugh and exercise.WTST is honored to work with the NYPD in order to support community engagement and integration. WTST brings communities together through basketball. As NYPD PO Rafael Aquino of Police Service Area 6 said, the police are trying to "break down the barriers" and "erase the misconceptions" regarding the police department. Police officers main interactions with people can, at times, seem negative because they mostly respond to distress calls, their goal, along with protecting the city, is to "see people at their good moments." WTST plans to integrate the NYPD in every new event and help further their mission by building bridges through the game of basketball.
