We are striving to create a kinder society through Canadian Kindness Leaders, Pink Shirt Day Canada, and the WITS Programs. WITS is an award-winning victimization-prevention program used in elementary schools across Canada and into the USA, Brazil and Europe. Partnering with Pink Shirt Day co-founder Travis Price, every February we deliver Canada's national Pink Shirt Day broadcast. In 2020 we piloted Canadian Kindness Leaders, which empowers kids to create their own kindness initiatives, in four provinces. Twenty years since its beginning, the WITS Program is recognized as the leading program of its kind (Dalhousie 2016 report). There are now four segments: WITS for Kindergarten to grade 3, LEADerS for grades 4 to 6, and French counterparts DIRE and MENTOR. More than 200,000 children across Canada have been introduced to the program in every province and territory. Over 1,200 Canadian schools have started the WITS or DIRE programs, becoming a part of their culture. The word 'WITS' stands for Walk away, Ignore, Talk it out and Seek help, strategies that young students can remember and help them to manage conflict.
