Founded in September 2021, the Women in Agriculture Stakeholders Group (WASG) has been tirelessly campaigning to tackle the lack of female representation and support in agriculture. Just 13% (17,000) of Ireland's farmers are women, yet over 70,000 women work on farms every day. The Group has been working to ensure that supports to acknowledge the work of women has been included in the next Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) with a succesful campaign to include a 60% TAMS grant and the option of female only Knowledge Transfer discussion groups.The Group is passionate about the recognition of women on family farms across Ireland and ensuring that they have a financially sustainable future in rural Ireland.
