Women in Engineering Curtin Division (WiECD), pronounced 'wicked', was formed in 2011 by a group of like-minded students at Curtin University. It is a voluntary, student run organisation dedicated to supporting the professional development of young engineers who are studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fields, with a special focus which supports the growing number of female STEM students. Involvement in WiECD is inclusive to all people, with a vision of welcoming and embracing diversity. The club's activities are often oriented to target females, however portray fundamental value and relevance to all its involved members. An array of events are hosted by WiECD to devise opportunities for students in STEM related fields, to acquire knowledge and skills imperative for personal professional growth (as our next generation of technical specialists), and to experience positive integration of gender perspectives. WiECD incorporate a variety of organisations in many events, to establish an important link between specific areas of technical practice, and offered positions/visions of professional bodies.
