Women of the Triangle Hiking Club Details
Kitty Gayner founded Women of the Triangle Hiking Club in May of 2021 with the intention of making a few new friends after a solo move from Ohio. She created a Facebook group focused on hiking in the area of North Carolina known as the Research Triangle. Kitty soon found her passion planning weekly events and introducing women not just to the outdoors, but to each other. WOTTHC quickly grew to over 1,600 members in just seven months. This fast growth led to the creation of a board of directors, a team of experienced hike leaders, and the official title of a nonprofit organization. The club is a space cultivated to empower women of all backgrounds and skillsets to get outdoors. WOTTHC plans to expand into other outdoor activities such as backpacking, kayaking, camping, and more while maintaining the welcoming and accessible environment that we so strongly believe is vital to our community.
