Women's Health Association of Ethiopia (WHAE) is an Ethiopian Resident Charity Organization legally registered in January 2011 and is the sister organization of the Norwegian Women Public Health Association (NKS). WHAE envisions growing as a dynamic organization enhancing Ethiopian women's well being through social and economic empowerment of grassroots women.WHAE works towards the social and economic empowerment of Ethiopian Women and is currently operating in nine regions out of ten in the country. It works by organizing 55 women in one group and work with them from 3 to five years. WHAE firmly believes that investing on specific group of women for a longer period of time would enable them understand their strength and opportunities and bring them together for a better action. The Association works with grassroots and marginalized women, educating them about health and enabling them to start their own businesses. In the past five years, WHAE organized fourteen women's groups, trained more than seven hundred and fifty on health and life-skill, enrolled two hundred and fifty women in different businesses, including in the production of food and weaving traditional items (scarves, pillowcases, curtains, bed covers) ; helping to transform their lives.
