Woodend is situated on 40 acres of rolling hills, lawns and woods in Chevy Chase, Md inside the beltway of the major metropolitan area surrounding Washington DC. The mansion was designed by John Russel Pope in the 1920's in a Colonial Revival style for the Wells family and is now used as the headquarters of the Audubon Naturalist Society. Rentals of the property, mostly for weddings and other social events, support it's regional environmental programs.
