Specialty - Klosterneuburg, N/A, AT
woom is an international manufacturer of bikes for children and teenagers with its headquarters in Klosterneuburg, outside of Vienna. The company was founded in 2013 by Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld in a garage in Vienna. After a long and fruitless search for the perfect bike for their children, the two bike-loving fathers decided to take matters into their own hands and design a bike themselves: zooming in on a low weight, timeless designs, high-quality components, and child-specific geometry. In just a few years woom went from little-known brand to market leader, with woom bikes now being sold in 30 countries around the world, including Austria, Germany and Switzerland, the US and Asia. Every third children's bicycle purchased new in Austria is a woom bike. In 2021 the 500,000th woom bike rolled off the production line. Alongside the woom ORIGINAL lineup of balance and pedal bikes (woom ORIGINAL 1 to woom ORIGINAL 6), the brand also produces the woom OFF mountain bike with a carbon fork and the woom OFF AIR with front suspension. In 2020, these were joined by the woom UP eMTB with a natural-feeling drive system. There are numerous pieces of woom equipment and accessories that make cycling even more enjoyable. Over the years, woom has received multiple prestigious design awards for its bikes and other products. In 2020, woom sold almost 230,000 bikes despite all the supply chain shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of bikes sold was up by over 60% compared to 2019. In the autumn of 2020, woom took on investors for the first time ever, with venture capital group Bregal and Runtastic founder Florian Gschwandtner amongst those being welcomed on board. Since 2021, the final assembly of woom ORIGINAL bikes for the European market is carried out at a SPRICK CYCLE factory in Poland. As of May 2022, woom employs more than 200 staff members in Austria and 60+ in the USA, and the team is expected to grow to around 300 employees by early 2023.
