Workers First is an early-stage startup that is leveraging recent advancements in polymer science to develop advanced materials that neutralize acids on contact for use in personal protective equipment (PPE) and acid-proof coatings. As our name suggests, our company was formed to realize the vision of protecting people while they do the important work of serving as first responders, mining ore, advancing science, and serving in the military. These individuals build our economies and defend our communities, and they deserve effective personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the job. In addition to this, hundreds of millions of dollars in costs of equipment are attributed to acid erosion each year. It is important to protect this equipment especially in situations where harsh chemicals are used and could harm workers. Our current research and development efforts are focused on eliminating the dangers of acids through neutralization. Workers First has engineered a designer polymer, Neutralcoat®, that can neutralize acids on contact. This polymer can be incorporated into fabrics for PPE as well as acid proof coatings to protect equipment and property. T
