Founded in 2012 by a group of College of the Holy Cross students, Working for Worcester is the domestic project of the international 501c(3) non-profit, Students Helping Children Across Borders (SHCAB). Today, Working for Worcester focuses its efforts on improving and opening access to healthy, safe, and free recreation spaces, community gardens and other public spaces for families and children in Worcester, MA. Each April, students from Worcester's 10 colleges come together with business leaders, government officials, church groups, area high school's and Worcester residents in a major day of community building and service. In just three days over the last three years, Working for Worcester has built numerous playgrounds, dance studios, basketball courts, community gardens, and much more.
