Curable eye cancer kills and blinds thousands of children each year. We bring life and sight saving opportunities to children worldwide by educating the public and medical community to achieve early diagnosis; empowering sustainable, high quality, evidence based medical care; and enabling family support programs that reduce burdens and improve access to care. Our Values (the child first – always, excellence in evidence based care, collaboration and sustainability) guide all we do. We take bold, informed risks to protect and promote the complete wellbeing of children, families and survivors. We pursue our goals with conviction, courage and integrity. We unite and inspire all stakeholders to champion every child's right to special care and protection, quality medical treatment and good health, survival and dignity, love and understanding. All team members in Canada, the UK and USA are dedicated volunteers. Most are parents of children treated for eye cancer, adult survivors, or both. Our International Medical Director is Prof. Brenda Gallie, Director of the Retinoblastoma Program at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. World Eye Cancer Hope was inspired by two young girls from opposite ends of the world who never met, but whose paths twined through cancer. Daisy travelled to Canada for treatment in efforts to save her last seeing eye. When she returned to England in 2004, her family gifted money from The Daisy Fund to help Rati, a little girl from Africa whose cancer threatened her life. When Rati died in 2006, we began tackling the challenges that cause children in developing countries such great suffering. Daisy's courage and wish to share hope helped Rati leave a legacy that has already saved many precious lives, creating light from the darkness cancer brought to both their lives. We have established WE C Hope in the USA to begin addressing the many challenges American families encounter in the fight to save their child's life and sight.
